Makanas Beach Bungalows welcomes volunteers who want to contribute practical skills while enjoying the experience of staying near one of Costa Rica’s most well-known beaches.

Our volunteer opportunities are based on real needs around the property and are suited for people who are hands-on, proactive, and able to work independently with guidance. If you’re looking for a place where you can exchange your time and abilities for discounted accommodations and a meaningful stay, we encourage you to reach out.

Volunteer needs vary depending on the season, but we’re always interested in working with people who bring specific, useful abilities. These may include gardening, small maintenance tasks, eco-initiatives, photography or videography, digital marketing support, administrative assistance, or help with guest-facing tasks. If you have a particular skill you believe would benefit our property, we invite you to describe it clearly in your proposal.

We appreciate volunteers who can structure their time well, communicate clearly, and deliver what they commit to. Since we are a small boutique property, many tasks require reliability and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities. Volunteers who enjoy working outdoors, interacting respectfully with guests, or supporting behind-the-scenes functions tend to thrive in our environment.

In return, volunteers can enjoy discounted stays, the opportunity to meet travelers, and an everyday connection to Santa Teresa’s beach lifestyle. This is not a program for people seeking a free vacation. Instead, it is for individuals interested in contributing something of real value while enjoying the benefits of staying on our property.
